This is the misconception about async communication, for many people.
Most of us will be tempted to check the slack once a while and let it marinate in our mental storage until it's resolved.
It can be useful in some cases. But if you can resolve something with a quick face-to-face (Not necessarily physically), it can be much more productive.
What is the most effective framework to work with as a solopreneur @Anfernee. So that you don’t get distracted with marketing, networking and content creation.
I don't really have a fixed framework to work with at the moment. But I do know that the fact that it's a one person business, time management is one of the most critical skills.
Thus, async communication might work better.
Same goes for tasks and project management. Async will work better.
The idea of mental storage is less talked about and yet important. Its very important as an individual or solopreneur to work in places of low/zero distractions and to practice deep work(do more per hour than more hours).
I use slack for a team of three, its still good but l think as the team grows. It becomes noisy and distracting. The principles you mentioned in the article can be effective and efficient for big companies and teams.
Thanks for the mention.
I too question the effectiveness of collaborative apps.
But I do agree with MacDaniel that asynchronous communication allows for personalised deep work.
To me, this is the most important.

But that's me.
This makes sense.

Definitely.
We wrote quite a lot about deep work in this newsletter.
It's so vital to have this time to focus and get work done without any distractions.
And indeed, it's more for companies (Not necessarily big ones) that have more async communication.
I see a lot of companies have a lot of meetings/standups. Which is not efficient since it takes a lot energy
Probably the question is what is the balance that allows workers to get more stuff done.
One of my cousin works as a salesman at a big cooperate. And his calendar is always full of meetings.
Thank you for the recommendation.
Well deserved :)
